DUI convictions result in a loss of license and possible jail time. A first time DUI arrest can seriously affect your life and your life style. A first time drunk driving conviction can result in a large fine, increased insurance premiums, a loss of your drivers license and occasionally a jail sentence. Drivers charged with a first DUI charge may opt to go into the First Offenders Program. If you participate in the First Offenders Program, you must agree to the ignition interlock program and pay for the installation in your car and the monitoring of the device.There are mandatory sentences for multiple offenses of drunk driving. The 2nd offense results in a misdemeanor with a mandatory sentence of 60 days in prison. The 3rd offense is a felony with a mandatory sentence of 90 days in prison. The 4th offense is a felony with a mandatory offense of 6 months in prison.
